WORLD PLAN

Our WORLDWIDE ACTION PLAN

All Governments of the world:
act now!

5 concrete steps to take now:

STRENGTHEN THE ROLE OF WOMEN IN THE SOCIETY
1. Implement adequate legal instruments to achieve 50 % women members of Parliament in each country.
2. Systematically and significantly encourage the emergence and recognition of women’s organizations acting for a more sustainable world.

FIGHT AGAINST DISCRIMINATIONS AGAINST WOMEN
3. Ensure that in each country, the legislation is compatible with the UN Convention on « the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination Against Women» (CEDAW -1979), and that is truly implemented. In particular:

  • Legislation shall particularly focus on all forms of violence against girls and women as crimes subject to judicial procedures
  • Strengthen the rights of women regarding inheritance rights.
  • Ensure that women are free to choose their family, sentimental and sexual life, free from external pressures.
  • Implement awareness raising campaign to promote women’s rights.

RESPOND TO BASIC NEEDS
4. Improve access of girls and women to basic services (health, education, nutrition) and to basic resources (water, land, renewable energy), and contribute to their financial autonomy.

  • Guarantee that all have access to health, education and basic resources (water, land, renewable energy). Priority should be given to ensuring better conditions for women during and after pregnancy and reduce the inequalities between men and women regarding access to education and land.
  • Strongly support family rural systems in poor countries, to :
    - Fight efficiently against hunger worldwide
    - Ensure sources of income to women
    - Preserve the environment
  • Improve women’s income and financial autonomy by implementing national systems supporting: women’s access to funds (i.e. microfinance), development of professional women’s organizations, support for the development of economic activities and micro‐enterprises.

5. Significantly increase public development aid and implement a new international financing system to enforce the respect of the universal economic and social rights and respond to women’s basic needs.
